The Industrial Ontology Foundry (IOF) is a group working to co-create a set of open ontologies to support needs of the manufacturing and engineering industry and advance data interoperability. Current IOF working groups are establishing reference ontologies in domain areas such as production planning and scheduling, supply chain, maintenance, and product-service systems. The working groups are active with regular online meetings, publications, and presentations at various venues. The details about IOF activities can be found on the web site http://industrialontologies.org.

This 3rd face-to-face meeting will bring together international participants of the IOF and interested parties to facilitate planning and decision-making in support of IOF goals. The event will take place over two days with plenary sessions for IOF community discussion as well as smaller parallel breakout sessions to address specific needs. During the plenary sessions, IOF working groups and boards will provide progress reports and plan future activities. Of special note will be presentation on a special IOF initiative, the Top-20. Top-20 moderators will present the initial formalization of 26 common terms used in manufacturing and applicable to many of the domains of the working groups. In addition, the members will discuss progress in the IOF governing procedures and protocols for developing, synchronizing, and testing domain ontologies.

We invite members of the manufacturing industry, the standards community, the software application/solution provider community, the research community, and others interested in semantic data interoperability, industry 4.0, or digital manufacturing to join our efforts and participate in the event.ontologies.
